Our cows are registered, A2A2 Jersey’s. We’ve worked hard to find cows with good grass-fed genetics that can maintain condition without grains which we’ve found is rare in this part of the country.
The A2A2 beta-casein protein found in all our cows makes the milk more digestible than the A1 protein found in most conventional milk. Their grain-free diet makes the milk more tolerable for those with celiacs disease as well.
We do not process our milk, leaving all the beneficial bacteria, enzymes, vitamins and minerals bioavailable.
What do we feed our cows?
Our cows rationally graze on pasture that has not been sprayed with chemicals and are supplemented with organic alfalfa pellets at milking. We bale a portion of our pasture into hay that is reserved for winter. They have access to free-choice minerals such as sea salt, conditioner (bentonite clay) and organic Icelandic kelp.
